Argument Over the past few years there have been a number of school shootings where someone has come to a school and killed many innocent teachers and children. There are also cases of the same thing but only on college or even at high school campuses. These shootings where all these innocent people have become victims and died needs to come to an end and there is only one solution to that. To stop the shootings at places like Sandy hook elementary and Virginia Tech University there should be concealed weapons on campus like at Alabama University. The shooting that happened at Sandy hook was a big loses in the community and there were a lot of children that perished as well as teachers. Some guy that was a little bit unstable mentally and for some reason decided to shoot up an elementary school. Not only were there children that died the teachers that were with some of these students also did not make it through the horrible ordeal. Some people say that a teacher will give everything away to save their students that they look after and watch grow up. That showed when they gave their own lives in order to save some of the children that they cared for and wanted to keep safe out of harm’s way. If only it was possible for them to save more of those children maybe there was a way that this could have even been prevented from happening. The way that is the most sensible is to have some of the teachers that are willing take a concealed carry class. Then have the school be okay with have the guns on the grounds. That way if someone knows about how the schools allow guns to be on the grounds there could be a less of a potential for this to happen again. And if for some reason someone came on to the grounds and tried to harm kids again there would be some form of protection in place to help keep them safe. People may think that it not a good idea to have guns in an elementary school with all the little kids around; but if the guns are concealed then there should be no way for anyone to tell who has a gun and who does not. It could make for a safer learning environment for the students. And since the elementary teachers would have the option to have a gun at school that also means that the offer would also be offered to the middle and high schools as well. The shooting that happened at Virginia Tech University is almost the same type of shooting that happened at Sandy Hook elementary. One of the only differences was that it was an actually student that did all of the shooting. Another difference between the two shootings is that there were about the same number of students killed as there were professors and teachers killed. As for the professors and teachers they were not allowed to carry any kind of weapon when this happened. Now after all of the other school shootings maybe congress will look in to actually letting people carry a weapon on to a college campus. Not just the professors on campus but even some of the select few students could carry; but only after an extensive back ground search and check to make sure that they can handle having a gun on campus. After this shooting at Virginia Tech a “student form Texas started a Facebook in favor of the right to carry a concealed weapon on college campus” (Wiseman). After this student in Texas started the Facebook page there have been thousands of students that have agreed with carrying a concealed weapon on campuses. There is one major school that has made a giant leap since last semester. The University of Alabama has made it legal to carry a concealed weapon on campus at all times. There are a few exceptions to where the gun holder cannot carry the weapon. One of the biggest places that they don’t want any kind of weapon on the premises of any athletic event that is taking place. The university also does not want the gun holder to leave the weapon in his/her vehicle during school or during any athletic event that is taking place nearby (Enoch). Alabama is not the only school that is trying to implement this law to their students and to their professors. The whole state of Alabama is working on making every school in the state follow them in having everyone on campus be able to carry a concealed weapon. Some of the schools in Alabama do not like the idea of having guns on campuses and will most likely not follow through with the state law that is being proposed in government. If the law was to pass in the state of Alabama and things actually help with the crime rate on the college campus, then the rest of the US could follow in the footsteps and make this country a great one. If every school in the US had some form of protection law where there were concealed weapons on campus then the bad people that try to get in to the schools will not try to anymore. My name is Brandon and this is me first college English class. I am studying at Columbus state and my major is going to Fire Science. The reason I have chosen fire science is because it runs in my family. I am a third generation fire fighter for the village of  Mt. Gilead. It has been apart of my family for years. My grandfather was the chief there for over 20 years and since has passed, but now his son which is my uncle is the chief and my father is the assistant chief. then there is me I just started over a year ago but I plan to go on and become a fireman in a bigger city and be full time. This is what I have wanted to do since I was little and now is my chance to make it happen.
